| The last round of the Danish DRCMU championships: |
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Sunday the 8th of March saw the closing round of the Danish DRCMU
Championships, in the 19T superstock class. Before this race Team Corally driver
Mike Hansen was leading the championship by one point ahead of Nicolai
Nielsen/Serpent. Team Corally driver Rasmus Callesen had 3rd spot in the
championship. The race was held over two days, with 4 round of practice, and 2 rounds of qualifying Saturday, and 1 round of qualifying followed by 3 mains. The race was held by the Aarhus Club and the layout was once again the same as they use for weekly practice. In front of us we all had a lot of work to do, because the Aarhus driver, and Championship contender, Carsten Madsen/Xray, had a big advantage because he's racing in the Aarhus Club. Mike and Rasmus were ready to do everything they could to take the to spots in the standings. After first round of qualifying Mike was in 2nd position, and Rasmus in 3rd. hometrack driver Carsten Madsen/Xray took the victory. In the next round of qualifying, Mike was ready to give everything to take the victory. If Carsten Madsen took TQ and won the race, he would move up from 4th spot, to take the Championship victory. And Mike did, what he wanted to do. carsten made some small errors due the run, and Mike kept on driving very stable to take the victory in second round. After 3rd round of qualifying Carsten took the TQ spot. with Mike in 2nd. Rasmus in 6th. Mike needed to take the overall victory, to become the Champion, but Carsten's advantage in hometrack, didn't left any chances to the other drivers. Mike finished 2nd in all mains, and Rasmus finished 5th in all mains. Mike took 2nd spot in both overall and championship, and Rasmus 4th in the championship. The Performance from the Corally RDX Phi cars and Corally batteries has been excellent all season, and thanks for that! |

Before this race Mike Hansen was leading the Championship together with Nicolai Nielsen/Serpent. Number 3 in the standing was Rasmus. The two Team Corally drivers were starting first and second after qualifying. Rasmus in TQ with two Qual. wins and Mike second with one Qual. win. The finals were very intense. After the last final, 3 drivers were having the same point score. Mike managed to take the overall victory (only winning due to lower start number) with one final win, and the first place in the Championship. Rasmus had bad luck in some of his finals and ended up 4th overall, with one final win. | The third race of the Danish Touring Car Championship: |
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
On Saturday 9th of February, we practiced at the race track in
Brondby, Denmark. My car wasn't going as fast as it should have for the first
time, but after some adjustments in gearing and setup, the car went like it
never did before. I drove the fastest time I have ever driven, at this race
track and the car drove perfectly. On Sunday 10th of February, the race started. In the modified class, 9 drivers participated. Among these was the former European champion Jonas Kaerup and Soren Boy Holst. After the first qualification, I TQ’d. Soeren had a better time, but his car didn't go through the technical inspection. Therefore I jumped from 2nd place, up to TQ. In the second qualification I, once again, had the second best time, so by now I'ved qualified for 2nd place in the A-main modified. In the third and last qualification, the car went better than ever and I was faster than ever, but couldn’t take TQ. I qualified for 2nd place in the A-main modified. In the first final, the battery in my radio wasn’t working well, so I couldn’t control the car as I want to. I only drove two laps, before the car broke. In the second final, I had a fair battle with Jonas Kaerup for about 10 or 12 laps. But I made a small mistake, and Jonas was there for the overtake. I tried to find an opening to come back, but I couldn’t. I finished 3rd in the second final. In the third and last final, there were some crashes in the first corner of the track. Christian Lehm, who qualified as number 5, drove right through the crashes and was number 2, right in front of me. We had a good and fair battle in 5 or 6 laps, but I found a hole and went inside after the straight away. Now I was number 2, after Soren. In 10 laps, I caught him and after he was "drifting" around a corner, I went inside for the 1st place. I finished as number one in the third final, and therefore number three overall. Winner was Soren Boy Holst/Xray, second place Jonas Kaerup/HB and third place Emil Rath/Corally RDX Phi. After three races of the DASU Danish Championship in Touring Car, I'm number three. It's my first indoor season with modified, so I'm pretty satisfied. The next race of the series will be in Aarhus, which also will be the last race. The qualification round for the German Indoor Nationals were held
in the beginning of the February 2008 in Ibbenbuehren, Germany. Corally top team
driver Patrick Pasch (11) took home the victory after winning two A finals with
his RDX Phi. The third A-final was an exciting race. Patrick made a big mistake
and it looked like his big competitor would win
the race. But Patrick fought back all his lost positions and 1 minute before
finishing he was able to take him in and win the overall race. Ibbebuehren was a
small challenging track where Patrick raced for the first time whereas it was
the home track of his opponent. | Plymouth 12th Scale National 2008
|
This year Plymouth returned to it’s previous venue, roof intact
this time! The track design was a nice balance of technical sections that flowed
together well, rewarding accurate driving. Special note must go to Matt White managing to clip a corner and get reasonable air, not being happy with that then used an innocent marshal’s hand to gain more height sending his car about 10 feet in the air! Saturday was 19 Turn day, allowing drivers to become accustomed to the track before scaring themselves with modified motors! Qualifying was successful for the Corally team with 6 out of the 10 A finalists driving the SP12X, including Matt White setting TQ but continuing the 19 Turn curse that no pole sitter has yet won the A final!! Sunday was a much faster affair and with the Corallys going so well looked set to be interesting. Early on it was clear the Corallys that worked so well on Saturday were still working, ending up taking 5 of the top 10 positions, 4 being in the top 5 with the only interloper being worlds A finalist Andy Griffith! Sunday’s final was a mixed affair with TQ man Chris Kerswell’s Corally getting a good clean start, 2nd place Corally driver Russ Williams was unfortunately tagged in the first corner mêlée leaving 9th Place Keith Robertson and 7th Place Roger Manwaring to pick their way through to 2nd and 3rd at the end of lap one. Chris had about a 2 second lead to Keith which he maintained for the entire race taking his first modified win and breaking Griff’s string of wins. Keith and Roger were involved in a tangle with back markers towards the end of the race, Keith eventually taking 2nd with Roger 3rd putting two Corallys on the podium. Chris used the Corally SP12X WC edition kit with Parma Grey rear and Magenta front tyres, topped with a Parma Zytek body. Peak cells powered his Peak 5.5 brushless motor controlled by an LRP Sphere speed controller. As normal his KO radio and Spektrum receiver provided trouble free, precise control. A special thanks goes the Plymouth club and the BRCA committee for doing a superb job of organising the meeting. Also the Doris girls and the catering ladies for organising the pasties! |

5 Corally / Horizon UK drivers (Andy Sawyer, Trish Whiteley,
Roger Manwaring, Mark Jewitt and Chris Kersewell) were part of the BRCA show
team that were demonstrating RC car racing at the Auto Sports International show
at the NEC over the weekend of 12th and 13th January. All of the 1/12 were running Porsche 911 body shells for added realism and something that the public would recognize. The crowd was 3 or 4 deep around the track all day and we were getting ooh's and ahhh's from the crowd for passing maneuvers and applause at the end of the race. Trish was announced as the only lady driver at the event in one of the races, the commentator then went on to say that it was the first time she had raced (it was the first time that she had run the car during the day) then she went on to win to a lot of applause from the crowd. Over the weekend we generated a lot of interest in RC car racing. |

A brief results from the last weekend’s US Touring Car
Championships – Novak race, an all brushless event run by Scotty Ernst. In the
foam 10.5-turn and Modified classes, it was a two man show between Mike
Blackstock and Josh Cyrul. Corally’s Blackstock set the TQ in both classes with
this RDX Phi and looked untouchable, but Josh Cyrul with his custom built sedan
won the 10.5-turn A1 and A2 mains to take the overall win. In the Modified class
it was all she wrote when Blackstock took the early lead and checked out in both
the A1 and A2-mains to claim the championship.

| Corally RDX Phi won the F1 and DTM cars show in Denmark: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
On the weekend from 27th to 28th of October 2007, there had been
a huge automobile expo, with F1 and DTM cars on show. More than 100.000
spectators have visited the show over 4 days. Racers from all over the country were invited to take part in a RC drift show on Saturday, and Italian professional drift racers were flown in, to judge the competition. Corally top team driver Jonas Kaerup came to the show, and got a set of hard Tamiya drift tires to run. The the race began. Although it had nothing to do with usual RC racing and even run by another manufacturer in Denmark, Jonas thought it would be good to show the Corally cars and gears, so he entered the race having never run anything like it before. No changes have been done to the RDX-PHI, it was setup for racing on carpet. The grand prize was a day as a real racing driver worth more than a 1000 Euros. The car was awesome with drift tires, and other Corally drivers also made their way as far up as the semi finals. Jonas Kaerup won the race and the grand prize, and they all had a lot of publicity from racers and spectators asking about the car and products. |

| RDX Phi wins Schumacher Cup 2007: |
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The Schumacher Cup 2007 was held last weekend in Århus, Denmark
as the first indoor race of the season. Corally team driver Mike Callesen was very fortunate that his setup was perfect from the first run. Mike was running very fast and stable with no mistakes at all. In the 5 qualification heats he drove home three 1st , one 3rd and one 4th place thus taking TQ. In the first A-final Mike led the way from start until the end without any threats In the second A-final Mike made the first and only error all weekend which set him back from 1st to 5th place, however, during the race Mike managed to advance finishing up 3rd place. In the third A-final Mike was again untouchable and took a well deserved 19T win. Corally team driver Rasmus was influenced by a number of minor and very small mistakes throughout the practice in the morning, but the Phi was fast and smooth as usual. During the qualifying runs Rasmus was unfortunately still influenced by several very small driving errors…due to the very high competitive level in the 19T class this does not go unpunished. Rasmus qualified 4th in the A-Main. In the first A-final Rasmus won a 3rd place due to stable and fast driving, advancing one position. In the second run Rasmus set the fastest total time and laptime in the 19T class and won the second A-final. In the 3rd A-final Rasmus drove very aggressively in order to win the second place, this unfortunately led to minor errors causing Rasmus to finish 7th…but winning the 3rd place in total Generally speaking the Phi was definitely the fastest car on track and the Phi won the respect of the audience as one of the cars to have for the coming indoor season. Stephen Boice, Jarrod Langlois, and TJ Bradley behind those other three cars. Brad Johnson also qualified 3rd in 19T Foam. He had some tough luck in the main. Chris Tosolini TQ'd (every round) the Modified Foam Class and finished 2nd. He fought hard all five minutes, but a small mistake towards the end gave the win to Teemu Leino. Mike Blackstock won the Modified Foam B-main and finished 8th in the Modified Rubber A-main. Overall, a great result for Corally USA. Hopefully we can carry this speed to every race this year and have a season like '05/'06 where we won every stock carpet race and won both Carpet Nationals in Modified. | RDX Phi wins the last series of the Belgian Nationals.
|
The last series of the Belgian Nationals on Zwevegem at MRCZ were
held on Sunday, the 23rd of September 2007. The weather gods were in favour of
the drivers and they waved a sunny weekend on their feet. On the technical track
of MRCA every mistake were punished right away. The question who was about to
become the Beligan Champion was still unknown. The battle had to be fought. Team
Corally driver Olivier Bultynck had to take one more win to take home the prize.
The biggest opponent in that battle was Koen Joosens. He must not finish higher
than third place overall. In the qualification round there was no competition to Olivier Bultynck with his Corally RDX Phi. Olivier TQ’d sovereignly. Koen Joosens qualified on the third grid. In the first and the second A-final, Olivier flew away from the competition and took the win by half a lap in front of Koen Joosens who finished second. There was no need for Olivier to run the third A-final. With this beautiful victory Olivier has closed the Belgian Championships with a second place. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The National Championships EP 1:10 Touring Car Outdoor were held
from 15th to 16th of September 2007 in Walsum, Germany. It was a very meaningful event for Walsum, since it was the very last electric race to be held on this circuit before closing, after the proud 27 years of electric radio control racing club on its track. No one will ever forget these great racing years of the beautiful outdoor track on Walsum asphalt. So there came the beautiful cheerleaders to cheer up the last racers on Walsum earth and seemingly it helped a lot! Marc Fisher, Corally top team driver TQ'd and won 2 A-final modified class and took home the victory as German National Champion with his RDX Phi, powered by GM brushless motor. He finished first position total overall before the current European Champion Ronald Voelker as second and Toni Rheinard as third. Also RDX Phi dominated in stock class up to 50% in the A-final.
